Deep Sauna

Be them wet or dry, sauna's can be traced long back in ancient history from the Greeks, Romans and of course the Scandinavians. The heat and gentle sweating initiated by the sauna causes an artificial fever within the body, the same as when we are ill. The body then reacts enhancing metabolism and blood circulation which in turn destroys viruses and helps to oxygenate the body's tissues. As your body slowly perspires your skin's pores will slowly open allowing them to cleanse themselves. As well as removing grime and toxins from the body. Your skin will be left feeling soft, clean and supple.

It can be easier than you think to build your own sauna. With some basic carpentry skills and a little specialized understanding you can be relaxing in your own home sauna in no time at all.

Cordyceps sinensis

C. sinensis is a black, blade-shaped fungus found primarily in the high altitudes on the Tibetan plateau in China. Wild cordyceps is rare. This mushroom is parasitic and grows on and derives its nutrients from moth caterpillars. In the fall, the fungal mycelia infect the caterpillar. The fungal infestation kills the caterpillar by early summer of the following year, thus releasing the fruiting body. The wild form of C. sinensis is harvested, while the principal fungal mycelium ( Paecilomyces hepiali Chen) is cultivated aseptically...more

Desire Blue

This 2002 scent by, Alfred Dunhill is very nice, and always one of my summer favorites.

This aquatic, amber-like fragrance was inspired by a man's self awareness. The fresh, deep notes of bergamot and orange flower water impart a sparkling dimension while amber crystals, musk, and tonka bean warm and soothe the senses.

Cypriol Nagarmotha

Cypriol is a member of the cyperacae family (papyrus is another member of this plant group) and its roots are distilled to produce a fragrant oil. This oil, also known by the name nagarmotha in India, is used in Indian love potions; a man wishing love, and sex, will anoint his head with the oil. The oil’s scent is described as “woodsy”, “earthy” and “musky.”
Cypriol is found in many Tom Ford scents.
Review From Now Smell This

Cypriol nagarmotha essential oil is utilized in perfumes or bases of the woody, oriental type for a foresty note. Due to its minimal cost, it is also used as a fixative. In aromatherapy cypriol essential oil provides decongestive attributes and is used to treat problematic digestion.
Caution Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Keep away from children.

Arabian Oud

Mukhalat Gohroob

This is a rich oil with notes of cinnamon, honey, agarwood and black musk. A gorgeous, rich oud scent. I just dabbed a little on my wrist, and this is a super-sweet scent. The drydown is candy-soft and powdery.

\\ Montale Black Aoud \\

Black Aoud is a dramatic fragrance – but don’t confuse that with overly strong. It’s medium bodied and very rich, a bubbling potion of velvety rose and the old leather feel of labdanum, mixed with mystical oud tree oils. It’s a rare journey somewhere where you’ve probably never been and will beg to return to…all it takes is a little whiff of this amazing, rare elixir. If you seek a deeply incensed rose and sandalwood fragrance, one that would have scented the brightly dyed pillows of a harem, you need look no further.

Black Aoud notes: Red rose, aoud, labdanum, sandalwood, more.

Arabian Perfumery

A defining essence of oud-based fragrances have long been a major occupation for the notables of Arabia. A renowned Arab Caliph once said “If I were a merchant, I would only trade in oud perfume, so that if I did not make a profit, I would have profited from its sensational scent”. Choosing a fragrance truly reflects one’s individuality.arabianoud.com

Jatamansi

Himalayan Nard (Sanskrit name - Jatamansi) is harvested in the valleys of the Himalayas at altitudes of 3000 metres(about 10,ooo ft.) It has been used for centuries in Indian Ayurvedic medicine. It is known for its uplifting effects, harmonising emotions, favouring inner peace, and aids in balancing the body of all three Ayurvedic doshas.
Jatamansi has been used as a perfume and medicine. Indian physicians have long prescribed it as a nervine tonic, carminative, and an aromatic addition to medicinal oils and ghees. In Ayurvedic medicine this herb is sometimes called, “divine plant” and is used to counteract the effects of day-to-day stress. Traditionally, it has been used as an air purifier as well. The active constituent in Jatamansi is jatamansone. This herb has analgesic and stimulant properties. The oil has anti-arrhythmic and hypotensive qualities. This herb's sedative properties increase awareness, as opposed to valerian that dulls the mind.

Vetiver

Vetiver (Chrysopogon zizanioides) is a perennial grass of the Poaceae native to India. The name vetiver is native to the Tamil language. Old Tamil literature mentions the usage of vetiver for medical purposes. In western and Northern India , it is popularly known as Khus.

Vetiver is mainly cultivated for the fragrant essential oil distilled from its roots. Worldwide production is estimated at about 250 tons per annum (Lavania). Due to its excellent fixative properties, vetiver is used widely in high end perfumes. It is contained in 90% of all western perfumes. Haiti is one of the leading producers of vetiver in the world, along with Java, China, India, Brazil and Japan. The United States, Europe, India (also a producer) and Japan (also a producer) are the main consumers.

Vetiver oil is described as deep, sweet, woody, smoky, earthy, amber, balsam. The best quality oil is obtained from roots that are 18 to 24 months old. The roots are dug up and cleaned then dried. Before the distillation, the roots are chopped and soaked in water. The distillation process can take up to 18 to 24 hours....more

Culture Of Incense

Camphor

When the root or bark is steamed, it produces a volatile, white, crystalline compound with a characteristic pungent odor, usually referred to as camphor. (The aromatic oils in such plants as tansy and feverfew may also be referred to as camphor). Trees that produce the real camphor are slow-growing. In fact, the Chinese believe that it cannot be extracted from trees under fifty years old. In the US, camphor is extracted from leaves and twigs of the oldest trees, which does less damage than the more invasive Chinese method. Despite this, most of the camphor now used in the US is produced synthetically.

Najdi, Hawjari, Hasiki::: : :Frankincense

I listened as Radiyyah went through the different grades of frankincense in her stock. "Those big yellow lumps aren't so good," she said. "These are better. Look, they're like pearls. But," she opened a small box, "these are the real fusus" Her word "gems" was well chosen: Teardrops the size of fat ring-stones, some were silvery, others had opalescent hints of rose, green or topaz. "This is najdi," she explained, "from the najd [plateau], the high land behind Jabal Qara." She pointed to the range of mountains across the plain from Salalah.

300 Years Old:::Kyukyodo Company

The ground for the first Kyukyodo store was broken in 1633 in the Teramachi district of Kyoto, by a descendent of a warrior, whose deeds are chronicled in The Tale of the Heike. More than 300 years later, Kyukyodo still stocks incense, sumi ink, and calligraphy brushes. But they also sell rubber stamps in kanji and English, washi photo frames, and gold wedding albums. Customers are just as apt to be foreign tourist groups strolling Ginza's Chuo Dori as kimono-clad women looking for that perfect New Year's card, scroll hanger, or shrine book. The first floor of Kyukyodo's main Ginza branch stocks more than 250 different rolls of washi in every color and style imaginable, from delicate two-color patterns and in-your-face sakura motifs to thick lacquer-like red and black paper. Washi letter sets and more expensive Chinese types for calligraphy are also on offer.
